Work to upgrade the entrance to the old city of Safed has unearthed a tunnel that experts are certain local Arabs dug during the War of Independence, intending to use it to blow up Ashtam Building, an old commercial structure that served as the important outpost and weapons stockpile protecting the city’s Jews. At that time, Jews were in a small minority in Safed compared to the number of Arab residents in the city’s Muslim Quarter. Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook and Twitter. Nissan Sharifi, a researcher on the history of Safed. A few years after the War of Independence, the ground near Ashtam Building was leveled to build a parking area for tourist buses bringing visitors to the old city. Workers employed on a recent refurbishment of the area uncovered the tunnel, and initially thought they had stumbled across an antiquity. They contacted the Israel Antiquities Authority, which began a rescue excavation, which turned up findings from the 16 th century, the 19 th century, a water cistern from the Ottoman Period, and the tunnel, which had been filled it at the end of the war and later paved over. The IAA, as well as many Safed residents, were worried that the city would opt to re-cover the tunnel as part of its project to improve tourist facilities.
Can You be Racist and Date Interracially?
Angela Wild is a lesbian feminist activist, researcher and co-founder of Get The L Out, lesbian activist group. When a few of my lesbian friends and I decided to march uninvited in front of the Pride march in London last year to promote lesbian visibility within an increasingly misogynistic and anti-lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender GBT movement, we had no idea this would cause such a huge backlash from the GBT community itself.
As lesbians we retain the right to say what we find sexually attractive, irrespective of gender identity, thank you very much. The fact that such a statement is now labelled hateful says much about the misogyny of those who condemned us. Lesbians in are constantly vilified and excluded from the GBT community for stating their exclusive sexual preference.
Thank you for signing up. Sorry, it looks like an error occurred. Labor wants right-wing figure Raheem Kassam banned from Australia ahead of his scheduled speech at a conservative conference in Sydney. Labor has called on the government to block a firebrand right-wing figure from visiting Australia where he is due to speak at a conservative conference alongside former prime minister Tony Abbott and Brexit campaign leader Nigel Farage.
Pick up your ticket for this blockbuster event today! But Labor’s Home Affairs spokesperson Kristina Keneally described Mr Kassam as a “career bigot”, citing a series of offensive social media posts. Raheem Kassam has accused Kristina Keneally of spreading lies about him. In one tweet, Mr Kassam said Scottish Party Leader Nicola Sturgen, who had suffered a miscarriage, should have her mouth and legs taped shut so she could not reproduce.
The year-old also described a female politician as a “wrinkly old ginger bird” and suggested a former British minister “was in the special needs class” at school. Mr Kassam said he was not phased by Senator Keneally’s “lies” declaring he would still be coming. Australian senator KKeneally wants me to freak out publicly over her lies about me in her Senate.
A bigot is not someone intolerant of lifestyles or identities. If we are to accept such a definition that would make law enforcers bigots of felons an identity and anyone who disagrees with a smoker or drug user as a desired lifestyle a bigot. More appropriately a bigot is someone who is intolerant of a differing mindset creed, belief, opinion, thought, etc A bigot is someone who refuses to accept the possibility that their particular opinions are the outcomes of flawed logic.
Can I be racist if my partner is a different race than me? The complex reality of interracial dating in a “Post-racial” America.
I blinked. The place was the size of a postage stamp but it was all mine and it had an extraordinary view. Below me was a lush courtyard where weddings took place. If I stood on my tiptoes, carefully leaned over the wooden dish rack with mismatched dishes and looked out my tiny kitchen window, I could see the Mississippi River. The word had been given no special weight among the rest.
His skin white, his belly thick, his hands bruised and scarred.
OPINION: Lesbians need to get the L out of the LGBT+ community
David Folkenflik. Carlson is set to address the controversy on Monday. The revelation that Fox News prime-time star Tucker Carlson’s top writer had posted racist, sexist and homophobic sentiments online for years under a pseudonym has led to renewed scrutiny of Carlson’s own commentaries, which have inspired a series of advertising boycotts.
Several weeks ago I was talking to a man I’d been casually dating. He called to ask for a restaurant suggestion, “Where could he and a friend.
I am a black woman who has dated outside my race a few times, specifically white men. Yet, there were times when the topic of race became such a challenge that we had to cut ties. For a long time, I questioned why someone would have any type of romantic relationship with someone outside their race if they held these underlying feelings.
During the interview, he discussed a time in which real-life circumstances caused him to act out in a fit of rage and revenge reminiscent of his on-screen persona in Taken. What colour were they? She said it was a black person. He went to places in the hopes that an opportunity would arise to justify him killing a random black person. Still, there were others who came to his defense, such as Michelle Rodriguez, his Widows co-star. This brings up an important question.
They have tons of [fill in the blank again] friends. They even dated a [one more time] person before. Prejudice refers to sociological notions about a certain group. An example of prejudice would be clutching to your belongings extra tightly when you see a dark-skinned person out of fear that they will rob you.
Daily Debunker: Limbaugh on Race
So ending up accidentally dating a shockingly racist woman was quite the unexpected plot twist for a generally conscientious, open-minded, and amiable guy from Connecticut. How could I have missed this glaring issue with a woman — one I went on dates with, spent time with, even liked? It was the summer after I had suffered the kind of breakup in which the pain can only be soothed with bottles of liquor, junk food, and introspective sessions of listening to Jeff Buckley in the dark.
I had actually met the girl in question 10 years earlier at the mall where I used to putz around and cause trouble with my idiot friends. I always remember her being cute, if a bit reserved.
Was it transphobic for singer Ginuwine to state that that he wouldn’t date a trans woman on reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother?
So you have a preference for partners of a certain race to the exclusion of other races? Maybe you like Asian guys. Maybe Latinas are more your thing. Maybe you prefer partners who look like you. A recent study of gay and bisexual men in Australia found that racially discriminatory dating beliefs were inextricably connected to higher levels of racial bigotry in general.
There was an undeniable correlation linking those respondents who were discriminatory in their dating preferences to more obvious forms of racial bigotry. While the problem is usually understood as being concentrated in the gay community, it would be flippant to deny that sexual racism is an issue regardless of sexuality. The more odious corollary — excluding certain races outright — is a very questionable commitment to have.
If one recognizes or confesses to a racially discriminatory approach to prospective romantic or sexual partners, then one is obligated to consider the origins of this discrimination. In Canada at least, our society does a comparatively decent job of condemning most forms of overt racism. If someone openly states their aversion to doing business with Arabs on a purely racial basis, a severe majority of us would be disgusted and say as much. There are preferences that are actually just that, preferences.
You can prefer brunettes to blondes and not be racist.
Fresh Scrutiny For Fox’s Tucker Carlson As Top Writer Quits Over Bigoted Posts
She needn’t have been. Testosterone treatment, Oli explains, causes what used to be the clitoris to grow into a small people — and he remembers feeling relieved when Laura’s reaction was “oh, it’s just a tiny dick! I know what to do with this.
This guy and I have been dating for five months. We used to spend about every other day together, but now it’s as if he barely wants to spend time.
Several weeks ago I was talking to a man I’d been casually dating. He called to ask for a restaurant suggestion, “Where could he and a friend have a really good steak? Too bad men having candlelit dinners will be the only ones enjoying themselves. That was it. Several years ago, after Proposition 8 was passed in California, I asked myself, “What can I do as a citizen to further the rights of gay people in our nation?
My line of questioning led me to my childhood and the time I spent in the black church. I saw that there were residual beliefs about gays being “wrong” that lived in me. It was then that I began to take a stand within myself and in my relationships with everyone I knew that I had no tolerance for bigoted speech. No longer would I stand silent if someone in my company said something hateful about anyone, including gay people.
I would not only challenge their thinking, but would also risk not being liked. I made it my mission to find and date black men who were open and accepting of gay people — and I found them. I know this might sound odd and even ridiculous, but my experience of dating black men had always meant tolerating and even overlooking homophobia. That is until I committed myself to raising my standards and to stop dating bigots.
